After reviewing yesterday’s UFC 139 Preliminary card, today we are going to take a close look at the main card which is headlined by the return of Dan Henderson to the UFC in a class of former PRIDE fighters as he faces Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Speculation has been that this fight will be a title contender bout, meaning the winner of this fight might get the next crack at current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones. Not to get too far ahead of ourselves of course. Jones is scheduled to face former Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida at UFC 140 next month.

Ryan Bader headlines the Spike TV card in a must win bout against Jason Brilz. Bader has lost 2 straight fights against current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones and UFC legend Tito Ortiz. Brilz is also on a 2 fight losing streak against Vladimir Matyushenko and a controversial split decision loss against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

The UFC has decided to stop playing nice with the state of New York. After many attempts to get the ban on mixed martial arts in the Empire State the UFC, along with several fighters and members of MMAJ (Mixed Martial Arts Journalism) are allegding that the ban is unconstitutional and that professional fighters have a right to showcase their skills. Interesting.
